Use input order as a deliberate seed order
The first entrant in the list is seed one, followed by seed two and so on. The bracket expands to the next power of two and distributes those positions in a standard mirrored seed arrangement. Missing seed positions are shown as byes. With five entrants in an eight-position draw, three entrants advance through a bye and only four real matches are needed to produce a winner.
This is a deterministic placement rule, not an assessment of team strength or a random draw service. If your competition has regulations for regional separation, club avoidance, seeding eligibility or draw ceremonies, check those separately. Replacing the entrant list redraws the bracket and clears its results and manual reservations because the identities attached to the old structure are no longer reliable.
Reserve the branches before the winners are known
A future match can contain the winner of either preceding branch. The scheduler reserves every entrant who could reach that match, rather than guessing a winner from seed order. This conservative choice keeps participant conflicts and rest checks meaningful before the event starts. A bye has no playing time, but a genuinely played preceding match must finish before its winner can advance.
Recorded results replace Winner labels with actual entrant names. They do not silently release the reservations for other possible entrants or move the timetable. That makes the original time plan stable as results arrive, at the cost of sometimes retaining more conservative spacing than a newly optimized schedule would need. The tool makes no promise of the shortest possible bracket schedule.
Correct results without leaving stale descendants
Select a match whose two entrants are resolved, enter both scores or neither, and choose the outcome. The higher numeric score must agree with the chosen winner. An elimination tie needs an explicit winner decision, such as a tie-break outcome that the organizer has already determined. The program does not decide a sport-specific tie-break from the tied numbers.
Changing a result clears every downstream result in that branch. Otherwise a previously recorded finalist could remain attached to an entrant who no longer advanced. Inspect the updated names before scoring the next match. The final recorded winner becomes the displayed champion; this is the result of the entered decisions, not independent evidence that the real matches took place.
